Jennifer told a disbelieving Abby that her father was lost at sea. Abby blamed Jennifer once again for killing him and ran upstairs to cry. A worried Jennifer cried on Patrick's shoulder as he told her not to give up. As they embraced, Jennifer thanked him for his friendship and Patrick vowed always to be there for her.
In the Brady household, Hope remained suspicious of Jan. After Shawn asked Hope and Bo to get along with Jan, Hope questioned whether the accident was the real reason for his break up with Belle. Furious, Shawn lashed out and told her to get used to Belle being out of the picture. After a moment, Shawn apologized saying he would not take his parents for granted anymore. Noting his mood swings, Hope swore something was wrong with her son especially since his relationship with Jan made no sense. At the fireplace, Jan tried to coax Shawn back to his apartment. Horrified by the idea, Shawn called Jan stupid for trying to take him away from his family when they needed him. Desperate, Jan cried and told Shawn his reunion with his parents reminded her that she would never be reunited with hers. Softened up, Shawn agreed to take her home. As Shawn and Jan left, Bo promised that if Belle and Shawn were soulmates like he and Hope, nothing would keep them apart. Billie called with news about the disk but Hope had a bad feeling about the new information.
At the hospital, Sami continued to panic in Brandon's presence. Assuring herself he wasn't another vision, Sami begged him to leave. Brandon tried to tell Sami the news about the serial killer victims surviving but stubborn Sami did not want to hear anything he had to say relating to Lexie. Fed up, Brandon walked away. As Sami fretted about the repercussions of Brandon staying in town, Lucas came up behind her. After a moment of confusion, Lucas told Sami that her mother was innocent and that her parents had been alive all this time. An ecstatic Sami felt vindicated but was soon crushed by the news of her parents loss at sea.
In John's hospital room, Belle sat by her father's bedside as he explained that Brady was down in the Caribbean looking for the others. John blamed himself for Tony's wrath but promised Belle he had killed Tony and rid him from their lives. Sami rushed in demanding information on her parents. In rare form, Sami shrieked about her parents getting back together on the island. Kate took Lucas aside and begged again for Lucas to drop Sami but he refused. John continued to take Sami's verbal abuse until Kate returned from checking her phone messages with news of the missing.
At the hospital with Sami, Kate, Lucas, John, and Belle, Hope arrives with the blood stained remnants of clothing the Coast Guard found in the sea near the island. The clothing is identified as belonging to Roman, Marlena and the other missing Salemites. Sami is in denial and lashes out at everyone. Belle, Kate, and John are bereft and Sami rushes off in tears. Alone with John, Hope returns Marlena's wedding ring to him and tells him how it was recovered on the Japanese fishing trawler. They believe that Tony is dead so this can't be a DiMera plot. Everyone is forced to accept that all the missing are truly dead.
When Sami runs from the room she encounters Brandon at the nurses' station. He takes her in his arms to comfort her just as Lucas arrives.
Brandon and Lexie pray that Abe's tests will show his blindness isn't permanent. Tek arrives and breaks the news about the clothing. Brandon is still very protective of Lexie and lashes out at Tek. Lexie asks for time alone and tells Tek they can't see each other anymore. Tek is understanding.
On the trawler, Roman and Marlena wake up and realize they were drugged and that their clothes have been taken, exchanged for fresh ones. Marlena discovers needle marks on their arms and fears they've been injected with something. Tony arrives to check on them and lets them know some of their blood was taken. When Tony leaves, they put it together and realize their clothing and blood are being used to convince everyone back home they're dead. There may be no hope of being rescued.
At Mickey's, we play continuing tension among Maggie, Bonnie, Doug and Julie. Mickey is unable to choose between Bonnie and Maggie. Maggie has been declared legally dead therefore, his marriage to Bonnie is valid. He proposes they all stay in the house in separate bedrooms. Maggie rushes out and Julie goes after her to convince her that if she still loves Mickey, she has to fight for him. As Bonnie is trying to convince Mickey he's better off without Maggie, Maggie returns and announces she will move in with Mickey and Bonnie.
Belle and Kate visit John and talk about Sami. John's pain increases and Lexie gives him something to make him more comfortable; she warns he may live with this pain the rest of his life.
Lucas catches Sami with Brandon and is surprisingly mature and calm. Lucas and Brandon talk and Sami learns about Brandon's commitment with/from Basic Black. Sami says she knew Kate was behind his return and when Kate arrives, Sami attacks her. Sami threatens to tell John about Kate using company funds for her own ends. Belle shows up and tells Sami that Belle and Philip approved the money for Brandon's charity. Lucas lays into his mother, saying if he finds out that she did fund this charity to destroy Sami and Lucas's relationship, they are through. Eugenia asks Kate if her plan to break up Sami and Lucas is worth it. A wistful Brandon softens towards Sami.
Hope breaks the news to Jennifer that Jack is indeed dead and offers to come over. Jennifer needs some time alone to tell Abigail. Bo has also lost his father and his mother. Bo tries to keep a stiff upper lip. Bo tells Hope that he and Billie managed to unlock the disk containing files from DiMera's mainframe. According to Billie, there is enough proof to exonerate Patrick; Bo is still suspicious. Bo also tells her that Billie is leaving town; Bo and Hope make love.
Jennifer mourns and Patrick tries to comfort her. Billie stops by and offers her condolences. Jennifer says she appreciates it but must pick up Abby. Billie offers Patrick a copy of the DiMera files on him and tells him that she could never go after Bo and break up his home. If she and Bo shared a family, things might be different.
After making passionate love, Bo and Hope decide to stay in for the evening. Doug and Julie prepare to go out for a romantic dinner until Julie gets a call from Maggie. Maggie tells Julie that she is having trouble with her new love triangle situation and Mickey wants to show her what they've done to Tuscany. When they learn what is happening, Hope and Bo decide to go down to Alice's and convince Doug and Julie to watch Zack.
At Alice's, Brandon and Lexie, Sami and Lucas, and Kate and Billie all show up for the evening. Lexie continues to dissuade Brandon against dealing with Sami.
Sami sees Kate and realizes that she came to the right place. They have words and Lucas separates Sami. Sami and Eugenia also have a fight. Sami finds herself in Brandon's arms again and Lucas still isn't jealous, just concerned.
Kate tries to get Billie to stay in Salem and fight for Bo. Bo and Hope arrive and Kate can tell that Billie is still in love with Bo.
Maggie arrives at Alice's and faints at the sight of what was Tuscany. Bonnie gloats and Mickey tries his best to moderate. Devastated Maggie can't believe her life has come to this and she turns to Hope for support.
Bonnie is thrilled to see Patrick is alive. Bonnie decides to play a song/dance number - whoever you end up with is the one you're meant to be with. All of the couples dance and get uncomfortable when Bo/Billie and Patrick/Hope end up together.
Doug and Julie yearn to spend a romantic evening together but Zack has other plan - a food fight ensues.
John is in terrible pain but the nurse is unable to give him more painkillers. Falling asleep, John dreams he is reunited with Marlena, she cures him of his paralysis and they make love. The dream turns into a harrowing nightmare and the grim reaper appears. Pointing a skeletal finger at John, the deadly demon points towards an ominous end. While he sleeps, a mysterious figure wearing black gloves injects an unknown substance into John's IV.
At Alice's, Hope and Billie have a heart to heart. Billie can't hide her strong feelings for Bo but is committed to leaving Salem and never seeing Bo again. Kate tries to get Billie to stay.
Cops at the station find a secret encrypted file on the DiMera computer disk.
Belle and Philip, both mourning the loss of a parent, arrive at Alice's. Shawn and Jan are there. Bo takes Shawn aside and tries to get him to reconcile with Belle. Shawn won't listen and reiterates that he is with Jan now. Shawn is reunited with his aunt Maggie and she has an idea to get Shawn and Belle back together. She gets them to dance to a romantic song and it seems her plan is working, as Shawn apologizes to Belle. Now that they know Marlena was not the serial killer, Belle's lie about her mother's alibi is not such a big deal. However, when Shawn sees Jan dancing with Philip his anger flares.
Kate tries to get Philip to make his move with Belle. Philip will not bend to pressure and has his own plans already in place. Philip takes Belle outside and proposes to her! Shawn and Jan move in to witness the big moment.
Brandon suspects Kate and Eugenia are trying to use him to break up Sami and Lucas. Lucas takes his mom aside and warns her not to interfere. Kate is forced to lie and vows she will not try to stop Lucas from marrying Sami. Kate confides her secret plans to Eugenia. To convince Lucas that she supports his relationship Kate announces that besides Basic Black's sponsoring of the wedding, Kate will pay for all the other expenses as a wedding gift and she will send Sami and Lucas on a dream honeymoon. Lucas is deeply grateful but wee see Sami is still suspicious. Sami will not look a gift horse in the mouth and if Kate is footing the bill, Sami will expand the guest list. Sami publicly invites everyone at Alice's to her wedding. Does this mean Brandon is invited, too?
