Days of our Lives' Shelley Hennig (ex-Stephanie Johnson) has been given a plum role in False Profits, an ABC primetime soap opera pilot with a decidedly comedic twist.

ABC is on the hunt for another successful primetime soap opera in the style of Desperate Housewives, and they may have found their gem in False Profits -- a pilot that will star none other than Days of our Lives alum Shelley Hennig (ex-Stephanie Johnson).

Deadline reports that the actress has landed a leading role in the soap-like series that follows a group of down-and-out women in suburban Arizona as they fight their way to the top of the cutthroat world of a multi-level marketing cosmetics business. It's possible daytime fans might notice a few similarities to soaps like The Young and the Restless and/or the now-defunct All My Children: both have given soap opera fans hours of entertaining cosmetics-focused material centered around companies like Jabbot Cosmetics, Brash & Sassy, Enchantment, and FUSION.

To allow fans the chance to “make up” their minds on whether or not to tune in to False Profits, the show gives a more detailed tease about Hennig's character, Hilary Jenkel. She's described as “a sharp-tongued, hot-tempered former beauty queen whose glory days were cut short by a nasty drug habit. Now in recovery and a single mother of six-year-old Lila, Hilary hopes to reignite the flame between her and Clark, Lila's father. But when he sues for full custody of their daughter, Hilary needs to whip her life and bank account into shape. She joins her co-workers in a direct-sales cosmetics business, using her pageant know-how as the underdog team's secret sales weapon.”

As her fans probably know, Hennig is a perfect fit for the role of Hilary, as she also possesses pageant know-how; she was declared the winner of the Miss Teen USA pageant back in 2004.

Hennig joined DAYS in 2007 and played Steve and Kayla's daughter until 2011. She later went on to star in shows like MTV's hit series Teen Wolf, the Netflix comedy When We First Met and the Complex Network/Go90 comedy series, Liberty Crossing. She made a brief return to DAYS in 2017 for Steve and Kayla's wedding and will star in the upcoming Netflix comedy The After Party.

What do you think about the premise for False Profits? How do you feel about Hennig landing a leading role in the cosmetics-focused pilot? We want to hear from you -- and there are many ways you can share your thoughts.
