Fans are kind of freaking out about Drake Hogestyn's status with Days of our Lives, considering John was summoned to continue his ISA mission and said his goodbyes to Marlena (Deidre Hall) last week. But a recent interview the actor did about new head writer Ron Carlivati's upcoming material should assuage any fears about the actor leaving the canvas.
Hogestyn spoke with Soap Opera Digest about Carlivati's work, and since the scripts won't begin airing for another couple of months, there's plenty of reason to believe the actor isn't going anywhere. Oh, and equally important: he says the show is about to blow fans' socks off.
"The material lately has been really, really good. It's getting back to kind of a feeling like -- I get some goosebumps sometimes -- when I first started years ago," he told the publication. "Yeah, there's soap opera involved, and you have to suspend disbelief a little bit, but it's going to put characters in a position that shows off their strengths."
This isn't the first time viewers have wondered about Hogestyn's status with DAYS in recent months. The actor was off the canvas for a long stretch of time while he recovered from an on-set accident that left him hospitalized last year.
What do you think about Hogestyn's compliment on Carlivati's upcoming DAYS material? What kind of storyline changes would you like to see hit Salem? We want to hear from you -- and there are many ways you can share your thoughts.
