The future of Days of our Lives is up in the air, but while the network powers that be spin their wheels, working out a plan (or non-plan) for the NBC soap, the show must go on. And it's doing exactly that with the casting of a new character.
DAYS has put out a call for an actor between the ages of 30 and 39 to play the role of Alex, a confident, debonair businessman. According to Soap Opera Digest, Alex "has spent the last ten years traveling the world and amassing a small fortune. His ambition grew and his success in the marketplace has given him an enough of a cocky confidence to come to Salem with an agenda to challenge his family for control of the business. When it comes to women, Alex can be a bit of a playboy like his dad used to be."
Fans have already begun speculating about who Alex could be, with some thinking he's perhaps Justin Kiriakis (Wally Kurth) and Anjelica Deveraux's (Jane Elliot [Tracy Quartermaine, General Hospital]/Judith Chapman [Gloria Abbott, The Young and the Restless]) son, Alexander. Others are stating he couldn't possibly be Sonny's (Freddie Smith) half-brother because Justin is currently the D.A. and at the moment doesn't have a company to fight for.
The role is set to begin taping this March with an early fall debut.
What do you think about DAYS bringing the character of Alex to Salem? Do you think he might be Justin and Anjelica's son? Or do you think he's someone else? We want to hear from you -- and there are many ways you can share your thoughts.
