The actress, who's set to exit the show on Friday, November 18, says she couldn't have asked for a better departure storyline.
"My favorite storyline was my exit storyline just because I felt like the writing was so strong," she shared with Soap Opera Digest. "It was such poignant writing. While there have been so many highlights through the years that I just completely loved -- hitting John Black [Drake Hogestyn] in the head with a fireplace poker, getting married to Brady [Eric Martsolf] in Vegas, Tate's first kidnapping with Eileen Davidson [Kristen DiMera] was incredible, that whole storyline with J.J. [Casey Moss] in the beginning and fighting with Jennifer [Melissa Reeves] and being with Daniel [Shawn Christian]. It all comes together in a really beautiful bow at the very end."
She continues, "I feel like I'm going to cry right now because it was so well done, and I felt so undeservedly honored."
As fans of the show may recall, it was announced back in May that Lilley would be leaving Salem. She later released an official statement that explained why she decided to walk away from the role. "Days of our Lives and I are parting company on the best of terms," she shared. "It came down to time and the sacrifices required to keep Theresa on the front burner. Given the demanding production schedule a soap requires, that just wasn't possible with the other commitments and opportunities I wanted to pursue."
