Though she'd rather completely forget it ever happened, Hollywood icon Kathie Lee Gifford has taken a look back at a vintage Days of our Lives clip that features her as “the most minor character ever.”
The former Live! with Regis and Kathie Lee co-host reveals that while she was trying to break into Hollywood, she worked as an “atmosphere” extra on the nearly 50-year-old soap before being promoted to “dismembered body voice” actress with under five lines, which eventually turned into the small role of Nurse Callahan.
As Gifford fans may notice, her current voice sounds completely different than the sweet one heard on the NBC soap. So what happened? “Sailors, whiskey and cigarettes and late nights,” she said on the Today show. “That's what happens.”
Did you know Gifford got her start on DAYS? What do you think of her small but significant portrayal of Nurse Callahan? Would you like to see Gifford make a DAYS return? Share your thoughts in the Comments section below, on our message boards, or by submitting Feedback.
