Fans of Days of our Lives' bad boy Andre DiMera may provide a shocking surprise once the character makes his way back to Salem.

According to the character's portrayer, Thaao Penghlis, his longtime alter ego will be showing a completely different side of himself now that new writers Dena Higley and Josh Griffith. "What's ahead for Andre I can only describe as shocking," the actor tweeted. "Finding out he has a heart."

There's no word yet on what exactly the actor means by that statement, but considering Andre has committed a laundry list of crimes -- including killing several characters as the Salem Slasher -- it's tough to imagine him having much of a soft side.

In addition to the reveal that Andre will be showing he indeed does have a heart, Penghlis reveals that he's already taped scenes with Billy Flynn's Chad and Joe Mascolo's Stefano.

UPDATE
In an update on Twitter on August 15, Penghlis shared another update on what's ahead for his character.

"Just when it all looked like I knew where Andre our saint was headed, I turn the page, life slaps me back, with 'Try this one for size duckey,'" Penghlis wrote.
