Bravo Work Out star and former Days of our Lives actor Greg Plitt died over the weekend after being struck by a Metrolink train in Burbank, California. The fitness expert was only 37.
Witnesses say the actor had a video camera in his hand right before being struck by the train on Saturday, January 17, and a friend of the former model confirms that he was filming an advertisement for a protein shake at the time.
Burbank Police Department Sgt. Scott Meadows told People that Plitt's death "does not appear to be a suicide." He added, "A camera was seized as evidence but it's unclear who it belongs to -- the victim or a witness. From the sound of it, he was filming something, but I can tell you that no filming permit had been issued."
DAYS fans might recall that Plitt appeared in Salem for a handful of episodes back in 2007-2008 as a cop named Henderson. He's also known for his roles in the films Terminator Salvation, Grudge Match, and as the body of Dr. Manhattan in Watchmen.
"This is a terrible tragedy," read a tweet sent out by Bravo. "Our thoughts and deepest sympathy are with Greg Plitt's family and friends at this extremely difficult time."
UPDATE (January 20, 2015):
Plitt's official website is reporting that a public memorial service will be held for the reality star at 2PM on Saturday, January 24 at The Church of the Good Shepherd, 505 N. Bedford Drive in Beverly Hills. Another service will be held next week in his hometown of Baltimore.
"We are devastated over the loss of our son," Plitt's family posted on the website. "Your messages have uplifted us and give us strength. We thank you for that. Greg's soul is now with our heavenly Father. May his spirit live on through his website and through each of you."
