Days of our Lives wins WGA Award

Days of our Lives' writing team was awarded the 2014 Writers Guild of America Award in the Daytime Drama category.

NBC's Days of our Lives continued its impressive winning streak, picking up another major awards win.

In ceremonies held simultaneously on February 1, 2014, in Los Angeles and New York City, the Writers Guild of America (WGA) awarded its Daytime Drama trophy to the writing team of DAYS. The WGA Awards honor outstanding writing in film, television, new media, videogames, news, radio, promotional, and graphic animation categories.

Also nominated in the Daytime Drama category this year were General Hospital and The Young and the Restless. The Bold and the Beautiful did not submit itself for consideration.

The award was accepted by current co-head writer, Chris Whitesell, who accepted the award on behalf of the entire DAYS writing team. Whitesell also praised the contributions of DAYS executive producer Ken Corday and co-executive producer Greg Meng.

The members of DAYS' winning writing team include Lorraine Broderick, David Cherrill, Carolyn Culliton, Richard Culliton, Rick Draughon, Christopher Dunn, Janet Iacobuzio, David A. Levinson, Ryan Quan, Dave Ryan, Melissa Salmons, and Whitesell.

Days of our Lives last won honors from the WGA in 2000, the soap's only previous WGA win.
