Law & Order: Special Victims Unit has cast Molly Burnett (ex-Melanie Jones, Days of our Lives) as Grace Muncy, a "smart, blunt, and attractive" detective.

Congratulations are in order for beloved Days of our Lives alum Molly Burnett. The actress, who charmed audiences as Melanie Jonas from 2008 to 2016, has landed a recurring role on Law & Order: SVU.

According to TV Line, Burnett will be playing Detective Grace Muncy in the NBC series' upcoming 24th season. Not many character details have been released, but Muncy is described as a "smart, blunt, and attractive" detective who has experience with gangs and is very good at her job.

Burnett is joining Law & Order: SVU ahead of a planned three-way crossover event that will feature the series along with Law & Order and Law & Order: Organized Crime. TV Line reports that the unprecedented special "is being eyed" to air in September, though "scheduling issues could push it deeper into fall." Season 24 of Law & Order: SVU is set to premiere on Thursday, September 22.

At the time of this posting, Burnett had yet to share any details about her new gig on social media, but she did post a video clip (below) that shows her looking quite different from what DAYS fans might remember. The actress captioned the clip, "New show, new character, new hair."
