After his father died in the tanker crash back in 2003, Harry traveled the world on the Marone freighters, picking up work when he needed it. He came to Los Angeles in the summer of 2006 to catch up with his friend Nick, who looked out for him after his father died. Nick hired Ben to help him refurbish the Shady Marlin and let him live on the boat while he was there.

Nick arranged for Phoebe to take Harry to see the sights and the two soon began a mild flirtation. Harry was caught in a love triangle when Shane McGrath set his sights on Phoebe. Taylor went on trial for killing Darla and Shane, the only witness beside Phoebe, agreed to testify on Taylor's behalf. While Shane blackmailed Phoebe to date him in exchange for his testimony, Harry tried to protect Phebe. In the end, Shane did not help Taylor's case and Harry left town shortly afterward.
