Eric walks into his office as Katie is leaving marketing proposals on his desk. Eric tells her that he is blessed having all three Logan girls working for him. Katie brings up Stephanie's name and asks Eric if he's heard from her. He tells Katie that there is no reason for Stephanie to contact him, as they are getting a divorce.
Eric sits at his desk and takes a few minutes to review the proposals Katie brought in. He gives her feedback but notices she's distracted and asks if she's worried about him hurting Donna. Katie tells him she is worried about Donna's happiness, and Eric reassures her that he is going to do everything he can to make her happy.
Stephanie tells Donna she's trying Stephanie's patience and doesn't have to make dumping Eric so difficult. She tells Donna she's tired of giving her chances to do the right thing and walks over to call the police to turn Storm in. Donna cries out for her to not do it. Donna reaches across the sofa and hangs up the phone. Stephanie says that Donna loves her husband and needs to live up to her agreement and end things with Eric. Donna tells her that Brooke is the one who agreed to her deal, not her, and that she has tried everything to break up with Eric but he won't let her. They continue to fight and Stephanie starts to leave the room, but Donna slams the door shut, telling Stephanie she isn't going anywhere.
Donna yells at Stephanie to go ahead and call the police, as it may mean that she will lose her brother, but she will gain Eric forever. Stephanie raises her eyebrow and asks Donna where she came up with that idea, on her own or if she discussed it with the other bimbos at Bimbo School. They exchange a few more insults and Donna tells Stephanie to stop hounding her. Stephanie demands Donna figure out how she's going end things with Eric, tells her to handle it, and walks out the door.
Dr. James Warwick lets himself into Nick's "M" office. Nick greets James, who arrived a day earlier than expected, and they exchange small chit-chat. James cuts to the chase and asks Nick what is wrong with Taylor. Nick tells him about the egg donor and the lab mix-up. James can't imagine how Taylor is dealing with having her worst enemy's baby. Nick tells him she's not, but she seems to have turned a corner for the better.
James tells Nick that Taylor has one of the most brilliant minds he's worked with in psychiatry. He tells Nick that it is unfathomable what she has been through with her drinking and what happened to Darla. He asks Nick if Taylor has begun drinking again and Nick tells him no. James tells Nick that as long as Taylor stays sober, she can handle anything.
At home, Taylor continues to drink. The doorbell rings, so she stashes the bottle in a drawer, sprays her breath, and opens the door. Rick tells her he came by to let her know that even though he's Brooke's son, he cares about her. She invites him in and he tells her that he wants for her to be happy, but he doesn't think that with her and Nick raising Brooke's son, that she will have that chance. Rick tells Taylor that Brooke and Nick share something intense and it won't stop, especially now that they share a child. He tells her that she knows Brooke and Nick will get together eventually and wonders if she thinks it's best to get out now. Taylor shakes her head at him in disbelief.
Rick tells Taylor that Brook always gets what she wants. Taylor wants to know what Rick wants as everyone knows how he feels about Ridge. He doesn't deny that he does not want Brooke and Ridge together. Taylor tells Rick that Nick is committed to his family with her. She tells him that if she had known he was going to come into her house to say all this garbage, she would never have let him in in the first place. Rick tells Taylor he feels partly responsible because his mother and sister are in the middle of the mess and he just wants to help her. Taylor tells him she does not want his help, she and Nick are working through things, and he can take his mission out her door and go home.
Rick starts to leave and notices a near empty alcohol bottle on the counter. He picks it up and asks Taylor if she is coping by drinking and asks about Jack. Taylor tells him she had a little cocktail to take the edge off, but she's not drunk. She walks up to him and tells him to not make a big deal of it and to promise her he won't say anything. Rick tells her he won't promise her that and heads out the door with the bottle in his hands. Taylor chases after him begging him to not say anything.
Katie calls Donna on the phone to say Eric is on his way there and Donna needs to end things immediately. Donna tells her that she knows now what she has to do and hangs up as Eric walks in the door.
Donna runs into the bedroom crying and Eric follows. He asks her what the tears are about and she tells him she needs to tell him something. She tells him that Stephanie has something on her family and is blackmailing her to end things with him or Stephanie will tear the family apart. Eric demands to know what Stephanie is using to blackmail her with. Donna tells him that Stephanie knows who shot her - that it was her brother, Storm. Eric's face registers shock and he turns away as Donna begs him to help her.
In Eric's hotel room, Stephanie paid Donna a visit. Stephanie again made threats to Donna that if Donna did not end her relationship with Eric, she would report to the police that Storm was the person who shot her. Stephanie went to the phone to call the police. Donna begged her to stop. Donna promised that she would end her relationship with Eric.
At Forrester Creations, Stephanie warned Katie that if Donna did not end her relationship with Eric, she would have Storm arrested for shooting her.
Later, Donna explained the whole situation to Eric. Donna told Eric that Storm shot Stephanie. Donna said that Stephanie was threatening to inform the police that Storm shot her if Donna did not end her relationship with Eric. Eric was shocked to hear that Storm shot Stephanie. Initially, Eric thought the police should be notified. Eric was even more shocked to learn that Stephanie was blackmailing Donna in order to end his relationship with her.
Meanwhile, Nick brought James over to see Taylor. Taylor was happy to see James, however, she was not honest with James about how she was coping.
Back at Eric's hotel room, Eric came up with a plan to make Stephanie think that he ended his relationship with Donna. Eric explained to Donna that he would make Stephanie believe their relationship had ended and that would stop her from reporting Storm to the police. Eric told Donna that he loved her and did not want their relationship to end. Eric encouraged Donna to keep mum about their plan and patiently wait for him to leave Stephanie.
Eric went to Stephanie's. Eric told Stephanie that Donna admitted to him that she was using him. Stephanie tried to console Eric. Stephanie told Eric that she was sorry that Donna had hurt him. Eric told Stephanie that he was glad to have someone to talk to about his pain.
Nick is in his office, leaving a message for Clarke. He grabs his coat and heads for the door, dropping his wallet on the way. He turns to see what he's dropped and sees his wallet is open to a picture of Jack. He picks it up and gazes at the photo. He makes a business call, hangs up, and walks to his desk. He opens a desk drawer and removes a photo of himself, Brooke, RJ, and Hope. He then takes out his wallet and holds up the picture of Jack next to it and gazes longingly at both photos.
Eric is standing at the fireplace, holding his head, when Stephanie walks up and offers him words of comfort. She reminds him of the wonderful years they've had together and he tells her nobody can change that. She asks him if they can begin again and says that he is her whole world. Eric tells Stephanie she was right about Donna-that he found her in bed with another man and all Donna is about is hot sex with men, and he won't stand for that. He walks over to the patio as Stephanie rolls her eyes.
Stephanie walks up to Eric and tells him she knew Donna was going to break his heart and she hates to see him in such pain. He tells her how sorry he is and that he wants Donna out of the company and out of his life for good. Stephanie chuckles in relief and tells him she thanks God Eric finally coming to this realization. He smirks and shakes his head. She walks Eric to the door and invites him to come back home. He tells her he wants to and she grabs him, kisses, and then hugs him. Eric tells her he wants to move back home, but wants them to take things slowly. He then asks her to never mention Donna again, because it's over between them.
Taylor opens her door and lets Rick in. He tells her how worried he is about her and the baby. Taylor tells him that everyone is questioning her ability to be a good mother. She then asks if he told anyone about the alcohol and he tells her no. She tells him she knows he has an agenda-that he only wants Brooke and Nick together again. Rick tells her he is there to talk to her about her drinking, not his mother. Taylor justifies her drinking by reminding Rick of all she has been through with the egg-swap. She walks up to him and begs him not to tell Nick about her drinking, as she can't handle any more loss.
Taylor is standing by the patio doors and Rick walks up behind her. He quietly tells her that he is there with no agenda-she is the recipient of a very raw deal and he wants to help her. She turns, hugs him and thanks him for being there. She tells him she knows intellectually the lab mix-up was an accident, but other times, she slips into an abyss of paranoia and it's not normal for her. Rick tells her that he wants her to call him anytime, day or night, when she needs to, because he will always be there for her. He tells Taylor to think of him as her friend, not Brooke's son. She hugs him and thanks him again. As Rick heads for the door, Nick walks in. They exchange pleasantries and Rick leaves.
Nick and Taylor are snuggling on the couch and she tells him how safe she feels in his arms. She turns and tells him she has an idea. She says she wants people to know how much better she's doing so she wants to invite Brooke and Ridge to dinner. Nick is shocked and tells her it'll be a nightmare, but she tells him that it is to end her nightmare. She kisses Nick, snuggles back up and tells him it'll be a big surprise for them.
Katie shows up at Eric's hotel room and offers sympathy to Donna for breaking it off with Eric. Donna tells a shocked Katie that she told Eric the truth, that Stephanie is blackmailing her. Katie yells at Donna that Storm will go to jail. Donna tells Katie about her plan with Eric to make Stephanie believe they've broken up and Katie looks at Donna with disbelief and asks her if she seriously thinks Stephanie won't figure out the truth. Donna tells Katie she'll find out, so she calls Stephanie and puts her on speakerphone. Donna tells Stephanie she lived up to her end of the bargain and broke things off with Eric. Stephanie tells her that Storm will be safe; she won't go to the police. She then warns Donna that she had better never come near or call Eric ever again and hangs up. Donna excitedly tells Katie Stephanie bought it.
Stephanie walks away from the phone and gazes upstairs. Meanwhile up in his "new" bedroom, Eric is calling Donna. He tells her Stephanie believed it and that he bought a disposable cell phone to call her on so that Stephanie doesn't see Donna's number on his phone bill. Eric notices someone lurking outside his door and pretends he's talking business. Stephanie knocks and comes in as Eric ends the call. Stephanie tells him she's happy he's home, and how much she loves him, then says goodnight and leaves. Eric sits back on the bed, arms behind his head, and says, "Goodnight, Donna."
Ashley visits Taylor's home, and the pair chat like old friends. Taylor asks Ash to be godmother to Baby Jack, and Ash says she's honored, but surprised. Taylor says she feels a kinship with Ashley since Brooke has interfered in both their lives. Ash agrees, and the two discuss that Taylor invited Brooke and Ridge for dinner-a dinner that promises to improve all their lives.
At Forrester, Nick pops in on Brooke, and suggests that she and Ridge skip the dinner. He adds that Brooke can pretend to become sick since the dinner is going to be a nightmare. Brooke agrees and claims Taylor is up to something, but Nick says Taylor is trying to put the past behind them. Both are skeptical.
Later, Ridge comes into Brooke's office and jokes that he's thinking of buying a hostess gift for Taylor for dinner-something like boxing gloves. Then, Brooke and Ridge promise to have a positive attitude as they agree that Brooke, Nick, Ridge, and Taylor need to get along since they share children.
At Forrester, Rick is chatting with Eric on the phone as Ash walks in and starts joking with Rick. Discussion turns to Taylor, and Ash comments on how well Taylor is doing while Rick expresses doubt. Rick claims Taylor was on the verge of a nervous breakdown the day before, but Ash tells Rick that Taylor was fine when she saw her even inviting Ridge and Brooke to dinner.
At Nick and Taylor's, Taylor sets the table, telling herself the night promises to be a whole new beginning for all of them. Later, wearing a sexy black dress, Taylor welcomes Ridge and Brooke and tells them she was afraid they wouldn't come over.
During dinner, Taylor toasts to new beginnings and family. Taylor shares that she has harbored a lot of anger, but she is done with the pity party, and she thanks Brooke for being the biological mother to Jack, and saving his life with her bone marrow. Although Jack's parentage resulted from an accident in the lab, Taylor says she is thankful and wants to express her gratitude by giving something back to Brooke, so she has something special planned. Brooke, Nick, and Ridge look puzzled as Nick asks what she is doing. Taylor claims that after tonight they will all have closure, and that another guest is arriving. In walks a pastor, and he greets Ridge and Brooke by name, adding that he's happy to be there for such a special occasion. Everyone looks surprised. Taylor acknowledges Brooke and Ridge must be surprised, but she tells them she asked the minister to come to the house and marry them immediately. She then asks Brooke if she will marry Ridge now-tonight. Brooke and Ridge look uncomfortable.
Ashley and Rick talk about Taylor's dinner party and how things will go with both couples together. They also discuss Jack's maternity, and Rick asks Ashley if she thinks it might cause Ridge and Brooke to break up. Ashley tells him she's thought about it, but she has learned her lesson and won't be going down that road with Ridge again. Ashley asks if they can talk about something other than her and Ridge. When Rick asks what she wants to talk about, Ashley asks him, "What about you and me?" She tells him she's been thinking about when they were together and wonders if they could have it again.
Rick tells Ashley he's surprised to hear her say that, as he's waited a long time. They both acknowledge they are feeling gun shy because of their history and how they've hurt each other. Ashley tells Rick they are both available now and pulls him into a kiss.
Rick moves back and tells Ashley she caught him off-guard. He tells her part of him wants to go take a cold shower and the other part wants to make love to her on the conference room table. Ashley tells him she loves the last part. Rick tells her that he wants to take some time and let things sink in first. Ashley tells him to take all the time he needs, but to know that her feelings for him are sincere as she pulls him into another kiss. When she breaks off and walks away, Rick looks torn.
Taylor continues pressuring Brooke to marry Ridge immediately. She tells Brooke she is okay with Brooke being Jack's biological mother and she's moved on, so now Brooke can move on by marrying Ridge. Nick quietly watches what is going on then walks over and dismisses the minister to the kitchen while things get sorted out. Brooke tells Taylor there are a million reasons for them not to get married. Taylor reminds Brooke she's said many times over the years how much she loves Ridge, and Taylor wants to know what the problem is.
Ridge steps forward and tells Taylor she went above and beyond with her surprise, but that she caught both him and Brooke off-guard. He thanks Taylor, tells her it's a great idea, then turns to Brooke and says, "Let's do it, Logan." Brooke's mouth drops in shock and she asks Ridge to talk in private. Nick goes to get another drink and Taylor smiles innocently as they leave the room.
In Nick's den, Brooke is upset with Ridge for wanting to get married that night. She thinks Taylor is up to something and thinks the whole idea is ridiculous. Ridge wants to know what Brooke finds ridiculous about marrying him or "has something changed?" he asks her. Brooke reassures Ridge she wants to marry him, but she wants their wedding to be something special. He tells her that it's not their first trip to the altar and they don't need anything special. He asks her to get married right then. Brooke tells him she does not want to get married in Taylor's living room. She tells Ridge that Taylor isn't doing this because she wants them to be happy-she's doing it because she wants to ease her fear of Brooke stealing Nick. Ridge tells her he doesn't question her love for him, but that it would make a bold statement about where things stood if they went ahead and got married.
Nick asks Taylor why she didn't ask him about her surprise. Taylor apologizes and tells him she's trying to show she wants Brooke to be happy, so she thought a surprise wedding was a good idea. She asks him if he has a problem with Ridge and Brooke getting married, and Nick tells her that he does only because he has a problem with Ridge. He feels that they should not be involved in planning Brooke and Ridge's wedding. Taylor tells Nick that Brooke and Ridge have tried many times to get married and it has always blown up in their faces. She says she planned it to make things simple for them.
Brooke and Ridge come back into the room and Brooke thanks Taylor, but declines her gift. Taylor tells her she doesn't understand why and Brooke tells her it's because she wants to get married on her terms, not to appease Taylor's fears and insecurities. At first, Taylor denies it and tells them she wants them to be happy, but then she starts to cry. She walks up to Brooke and wants to know if Brooke won't get married because she has feelings for Nick and Jack. Brooke denies it and confirms she wants to marry Ridge, but not in Taylor's home.
Taylor tells Brooke she sees her every time she looks in Jack's crib and that she is in every facet of Taylor's life. Taylor pleads to Brooke that if she cares about her, she will do what she's told Taylor she's wanted to for years, marry Ridge.
