Brooke is torn between loyalty to her husband and doing the right thing as the vote to decide whether or not Eric will continue to act as CEO of Forrester approaches. Brooke appears to be swayed after Ridge tells her that he is concerned about his family's welfare but ultimately she votes against Ridge, hurting him in the process.

Meanwhile, Deacon tries to convince Nick that he is truly in love with Jackie. Nick tells Deacon that he should leave their family alone but Deacon tells Nick that forcing him to leave Jackie would be just like the time that Ridge forced Nick to leave Brooke.

Later, Deacon promises Jackie that they will win Nick over eventually.

Eric dictated to Megan for the record that Stephanie, Eric, Thorne and Brooke did not support Ridge's bid to assume CEO of Forrester Creations. Also that Eric authorized Thorne to use the Forrester Creations name and explicitly to use the Forrester Creations trademark. Stephanie tried to comfort Ridge and advised he should take the day off. Ridge announced that he was not finished. Ridge made another pitch for why he should run the company-he can make difficult decisions that Eric cannot make. When Ridge's last effort failed, he told everyone in the room that there is nothing left for him at Forrester Creations, and then left the room.

At Marone Industries, Sally predicted anything could happen at the Forrester meeting about Thorne and Spectra. Sally was curious if Nick still had feelings for Brooke? Nick informed Sally that he and Felicia broke off their relationship because they had too many things going on. Nick later reminisced about Brooke.

In his office, Ridge was angry at Brooke for siding with Thorne. Brooke tried to get through to Ridge that she sided with Thorne only to keep the family together and from fighting. Ridge would not listen to Brooke. Ridge indicated that he was offended that no one including his wife trusted him to run Forrester Creations. Ridge surprised Brooke by telling her that his parents had finally managed to come between them. Ridge told Brooke that he would see her at home and abruptly left

Ridge tells Eric that he's taking some time off indefinitely. Eric tries to convince him not to go, but Ridge says that with Thomas and Amber, and with Massimo's illness, it's all too much to deal with right now. Eric asks him not to let Brooke's decision affect their marriage. Ridge says she'll get what she deserves. Ridge gets a phone call from Massimo's doctor asking him to come right away. When Ridge arrives at the clinic, Massimo is agitated and keeps repeating "get him." Ridge doesn't understand what Massimo wants. After he leaves, the doctor tells Massimo that a nurse will be there soon to give him a sedative. Massimo tells him that he doesn't want a sedative, but the doctor insists that it will make him feel better. The doctor leaves and Massimo picks up his watch and ring from the night stand. He thinks about Deacon and Jackie together.

Deacon brings Jackie back to Massimo's house. She wants to pick up some more clothes because she doesn't have enough at Deacon's house. Deacon again tries to persuade Jackie to leave the house permanently. Jackie isn't ready to break up her family.

Nick comes by to see Brooke. He heard what happened and wanted to make sure she was okay. Brooke assures him that this is only a bump in the road for her and Ridge's marriage. Ridge comes home to see Nick standing close to Brooke, promising to be there for her if she ever needs anything. Ridge tells Nick about his visit to Massimo. Nick leaves. Ridge tells Brooke how crushed he is that she didn't support his decision to replace Eric as CEO.

Later, Massimo is in a taxi where the driver asks him where he wants to go. Massimo manages to say "Bel Air." He thinks to himself that he is going to save his wife from the devil.

Brooke tries to explain to Ridge why she voted against him. He asks her how he could side with the family against him when he's stuck up for her so many times. Brooke tells Ridge that he's the best thing to happen to Forrester but his becoming CEO would've destroyed the family and caused nothing but tension. She asks him if he wants a strong wife such as herself, or a pushover like Darla. Much to Brooke's surprise, Ridge chooses Darla. However, the two quickly makeup and share a kiss. Ridge admits that her independence and fiery temperament are what cause him to fall in love with her. The two brag over the indestructibility of their relationship.

Nick shows up at the hospital looking for his father. While the doctor's scramble to around trying to locate their missing patient, assuring Nick that he's around there somewhere, Massimo takes a cab to his home with images of Deacon taunting him dancing around in his head. He arrives and finds the door unlocked. He enters and calls out for Jackie.

Meanwhile an unsuspecting Deacon and Jackie are talking in her bedroom. Jackie tells Deacon she wants to be with him but cannot continue the sexual part of their relationship while Massimo is in his current condition. Deacon agrees to give her all the time she needs. He grabs Jackie's suitcases and they head downstairs. Massimo overhears them playfully teasing each other. Mistaking Jackie's screams and pleas for Deacon to "stop" for real terror Massimo finds his gun and deliberates using it.

Stephanie and Eric discuss Ridge taking time away from Forrester. Stephanie thinks he is punishing them. Eric says Ridge needs time to focus on his family. He then accuses Stephanie of hoping this recent family crisis would cause a rift in their son's marriage. Stephanie denies this saying she was surprised when Brooke sided with them. She even goes so far as to admit Brooke maybe stronger than Stephanie has given her credit for. Eric informs her that it will take a lot more than a business squabble to break apart Brooke and Ridge.

Jackie thinks she hears something in the next room. Deacon convinces her otherwise and they continue their passionate romp on the couch. Meanwhile Dominic calls the house. Massimo answers and tells him that he is going to "save" his mother. Dominic panics and picks up Ridge. The two head over to their father's place.

Stephanie visits Brooke at home and thanks her for her support. Brooke fills Stephanie in on the entire Jackie/Massimo saga. Stephanie jokes that Deacon can really get around (which I think Brooke has a lot of nerve to laugh at considering Deacon is simply a male version of Brooke-in fact he could be Brooke's mini-me!). The two fear a confrontation will trigger another stroke, or something worse.

Over at his place, Massimo enters the living room and sees Jackie and Deacon kissing on the couch. Memories begin to flood back. He puts the gun away in his pocket and calls out to Jackie. He tells her she was the one who made it possible for him to walk and talk again and expresses some anger over the fact that she never came to visit him. Jackie explains she didn't know where he was undergoing treatment and they hug. While they embrace Deacon tries to make a quick exit. Massimo points the gun at him and tells him he isn't going anywhere. He tells Deacon that he remembers EVERYTHING and tells him to admit he was only using Jackie. Deacon refuses and Massimo tells a petrified Jackie that she doesn't know the type of man Deacon is (although Deacon isn't the crazy one with the gun). Nick bursts through the door and jumps on Massimo's back in an extremely poor attempt to grab his weapon. The gun goes off and Jackie screams.
