Brooke is shocked to hear that Ridge and Bridget were kissing. Eric wonders in despair what has happened to the Forrester family. Eric informs Brooke that he insisted that they end their relationship, and Brooke hopes they listened to him. Brooke explains that Massimo initiated the relationship between Bridget and Ridge because he thinks Ridge deserves a better woman than Brooke. Eric leaves in a rage, determined not to let Massimo get away with the destruction of his family. Bridget suggests that if they let the truth out, then the fighting would stop and in time, maybe people would accept their relationship. Bridget recalls Taylor telling her that she should love, no matter what the cost, because love is the greatest gift. Massimo wonders how Nick found out that Ridge is his son, and assumes Brooke is his source. Nick notes that Massimo thinks Brooke isn't good enough for Ridge, but she's just fine for Nick. He accuses Massimo of trying to run Ridge's life and allows that if Massimo were Nick's father, he wouldn't appreciate the interference. Eric angrily tells Massimo that he's gone too far and assures him that he's not getting away with it.

Eric confronted Massimo at his desk. Eric acknowledged that Massimo had promoted a relationship between Ridge and Bridget. Eric described Massimo's plan to put Bridget and Ridge together as revolting and sick. He criticized Massimo for having devastated Ridge's life. Eric could not decide if Massimo was evil or very insensitive to Ridge and his family. Massimo warned Eric to go along with him regarding Ridge or stay out of his way. Eric fumed and reached his boiling point. He got out of control and demanded that Massimo stay away from Bridget. Massimo had him removed from his office by security.

Nick stopped by the beach house and helped Jackie unpack. Jackie had recalled to herself a conversation with Massimo regarding her observations about how he had changed. Jackie told Massimo during this conversation that Nick does not need him in his life. Nick told Jackie that Massimo has a son-Ridge Forrester.

Angry and upset by his blow out with Massimo, Eric went to Taylor's beach house. While in the bedroom, Jackie heard noise in the living room and came out to find Eric there.

Deacon unexpectedly stopped at Brooke's house. He made Brooke aware that he had made changes in his life: he quit drinking; and is attending AA meetings. Deacon pointed out to Brooke that he wears dressy clothes and has his hair styled because he is attempting to be a success as April's show business agent. Deacon revealed to Brooke that she was and always will be important to her. Deacon congratulated Brooke because she did not marry Ridge. Deacon offered to help Brooke anytime she needs it. Deacon asked Brooke if he could see Hope for a few minutes. While Brooke was refusing to allow Deacon to visit with Hope, Marta brought Hope out to say goodnight to Brooke. Marta placed Hope in Deacon's arms. Deacon told Hope that he would always be there for her. Brooke was happy to see Deacon leave. When the doorbell rang a few minutes later, Brooke expected to see Deacon back at her door. Surprising to Brooke, Ridge was at the door. Brooke automatically told Ridge that she knew that he and Bridget were together at Big Bear-kissing. Brooke did not hide her hurt and questioned why Ridge was there to see her?

Bridget shows up at Stephanie's home looking for her father. Stephanie is surprised to learn that Eric was at their cabin at Big Bear but left more upset than when he arrived there. Bridget is forced to tell Stephanie the reason Eric is even more upset is because he saw her and Ridge kissing. Stephanie explodes; telling Bridget that was exactly what she expected would happen if Bridget and Ridge didn't keep their distance from each other. Bridget maintains that the kiss was an accident and they hadn't meant for it to happen - again. Stephanie is furious with Bridget and tells her she hates to say it, but in spite of Bridget's intelligence, she is becoming more like her mother in terms of her poor judgment and lack of morals.

Jacqueline, who is equally surprised to find him standing in the living room of her rented house, surprises Eric. Eric is unaware that Lorenzo has rented the house to Jacqueline, her new west coast buyer. Once Eric realizes that she is not an intruder, he starts to leave. Jacqueline is sensitive to his emotional state, and tells Eric that he should stay and if he wants to be alone, she will make other arrangements. She says she can relate to the way Eric feels, comparing it to the time in her life when her husband died. She says the one thing she remembers she wanted and needed was for someone to just give her a comforting hug, and that's exactly what she gives to Eric. Eric is taken back by the compassion of this stranger and decides to stay a while. He tells Jacqueline he doesn't understand what has happened to his family. He blames himself, as the head of the family, for being blind to what has been going on. He is beginning to feel at ease in sharing his problems until his glance falls on a jacket with the Marone emblem. Furious, he demands that Jacqueline explain her connection to Massimo. Eric thinks she may have been planted in the house by Massimo to somehow do more harm to Eric and his family. Jacqueline tells Eric the jacket belongs to her son, who is a captain in Massimo's fleet of ships. She is angry at Eric's change in attitude and tone and tells him she doesn't have to explain anything to him and wants him to leave. She does say, that she doesn't know what the problems are between Eric and Massimo, but whatever has happened she assures Eric that she dislikes Massimo as much, if not more than Eric.

Ridge tries to convince Brooke to give him a few moments to try to explain to her what is going on. Brooke tells Ridge that she learned from Eric that he had kissed Bridget again and she doesn't understand how he could let that happen if he loves her as much as he says he does. She says that for years she has always had to deal with the insecurities created by his feelings for other women (Caroline and Taylor) and just when she thought she could settle into a comfortable place, confident in his commitment to her, he seems to not be able to get past his "crush" over her daughter. Ridge tries to assure Brooke that he has no feelings of passion or sexual attraction to Bridget. He tells her that she is the one he loves and he will not allow what has happened between him and Bridge to come between him and Brooke. He wants her to trust his words and trust his feelings for her. Brooke says she can't. Not without time alone to think. Ridge agrees to give it to her but he doesn't leave without telling her that she can have the life with him they have planned and she has always wanted. All she has to do is say the word.
