Fans of The Bold and the Beautiful were recently in for quite a pleasant surprise when Ashley Jones unexpectedly returned as fan favorite character Bridget Forrester. The former fashion designer came back for her brother, Rick's (Jacob Young), wedding to Maya (Karla Mosley), and being a part of television's first on-screen wedding featuring a transgender character has been more than Jones could have imagined.
"After being away from the show for over a year, I got a call in May to check my availability for some tape dates in June. I didn't have a clue why, after all this time, the writers wanted to bring Bridget back. But, I figured it would be something fun and important. I was correct," the actress shares on her official website. "Bridget was there to support her family, more specifically, her brother. And we had fun."
"The first day back, I felt like I was at a family reunion, albeit with a few new faces," she continues. "But, it didn't take long to feel like no time had passed. We tend to get deep quickly. John McCook [Eric Forrester] and I had covered A-Z before I left hair and makeup. Kelly [Lang, Brooke Logan] and I caught up on everything. Don Diamont [Bill Spencer] was giving me life and love advice within minutes (he's wise), before he had me downloading the Dubsmash app. Heather [Tom, Katie Logan] and I discussed babies, decorating, work and family. Jacob filled me in on his new home life. I loved every minute of it. In typical me fashion, I thought I would have downtime on set or in my dressing room to work on my computer, but I never opened it once. I never wanted to leave the stage."
In addition to a short video you can watch below, Jones gave a tease about the wedding shenanigans and promised more details to come. "So, Rick is marrying Maya... and finally Bridget gets to be at a family event," she writes. "Mike Stitch, whom I adore, is directing. Weddings and scenes with many cast members can prove difficult. During our 5 minute breaks, I got to catch up with the cast when they weren't running lines. Don Diamont practiced Dubsmashing with Heather Tom, hilariously nailing their choices. The wedding is quite the event with emotional performances I got to witness. Just you wait till [this] week. More to come..."
Jones played the role of Bridget from 2004 to 2012. She last appeared on the show for a short arc in 2013.
