She may be gone, but The Bold and the Beautiful's Ashlyn Pearce (Aly Forrester) is definitely not forgotten. Weeks after her sudden departure from the CBS soap's canvas, fans are still mourning the loss of the character and the actress. And apparently, Pearce is in the same boat as viewers.
When executive producer/head writer Bradley P. Bell called the actress with the news that her character was going to be killed off (and she'd therefore be out of a job), her heart fell out of her chest. "Of course, my first thought was, 'Oh, no. This is the death of my character and I'm really sad about that,'" she told Soap Opera Digest.
However, as unfortunate as the situation has been, the silver lining is that Pearce now knows exactly how much she means to the fans. "Aly resonated with a lot of viewers," she said, "But the magnitude of people who were sad about losing this character... it touched me."
And the additional silver lining? The actress will be back on-screen as Aly this month! "Aly does come back to the show in a dream sequence [on Thursday, August 13]," revealed Jacqueline MacInnes Wood (Steffy Forrester) to TV Insider, adding that she believes the way Aly's death was handled was very bold. "I like how we executed this story. It was a freak accident -- the kind you'd never expect but also the kind that does occur in real life. As crazy as soaps can get, you have to play it real every once in a while to make sure the audience stays invested and keeps believing."
