Vicky continues to agonize over whether to authorize the surgery on Kirkland. Shane urges her to be quick because he feels time was running out. Jake later confronts Shane about using the situation to get close to Vicky but Shane coldly asserts his only interest was saving Kirkland. Lila tells Vicky she would be lucky to have Shane operate on her child. Later, Steven asks Vicky if she trusts the doctor who will be doing the surgery and she is forced to admit to herself that she does. Still having withdrawal symptoms, Paulina begs Joe for more pills. He convinces her that detox treatment is her best hope at recovery but was unable to persuade her to tell him who gave her the pills. Amanda continues with her plan against Carl and makes reservations for Hadley and Carl around New York. She dresses up like Hadley and almost gets caught by Carl and Gary who are meeting in the same restaurant. Gary told Carl he got a full confession from Rusty that Grant paid him to accuse Donna of sexual harassment. Carl speaks with Rachel on the phone and she has suspicions because he seems so distracted. Rayburn jumps Josie from behind and told her that he knows what she was up to from the beginning. He knocks her unconscious and takes her back to his apartment where he told her he was going to teach her to act like a lady. Although terrified, Josie gets him to admit he was the serial rapist. Before Rayburn can rape Josie, Toni bursts in with her gun drawn. The 2 women handcuff Rayburn and Toni went crazy and threatens to shoot him in the groin. Chris and Etta Mae are scared when they realize Toni hasn't checked into the stationhouse. After talking with Tyrone and others, Joe figures out Toni and Josie may be investigating the rape on their own. Josie manages to convince Toni that killing Rayburn would be worse than making him pay for his crimes in courts. They try and force a confession from him and while he's scared, he stubbornly refuses to confess and continues to taunt Josie and Toni that they will pay for keeping him prisoner. Gary and Amanda share a cab from the airport and Amanda tries to convince Gary Carl was having an affair. Gary scoffs at the idea and asserts that Alexander was probably behind a plan to make Carl look bad. Later, Gary runs into Felicia outside of Carlino's and tries to tell his friend to slow things down with Alex. She gets defensive but he lists all the suspicious activities Alex has been involved in since arriving in BC - citing allegiance with Grant as number one. Felicia was forced to examine Alex's behavior but still insists she knows what she's doing. Gary gets worried when he gets home and finds out Josie didn't sleep there last night. Vicky told Shane that she trusts him with her son's life. He prays for strength in the hospital chapel. Although Jake told Vicky he supports her decision, he privately told Shane that he still doesn't trust him or his motives. Again, Shane angrily defends his actions, saying he would give his life for Kirkland if possible. Vicky tries to be strong and explain to Kirkland and Steven about the surgery. When she says Shane was the surgeon - Kirk remarks that he thought they were mad at Shane. Vicky says that she and Shane were having problems and an astute Kirk asks if its because Vicky loves Jake. Cindy finally reaches Grant who storms into the operating room demanding Shane not operate.

Gary finds a uniform name tag in the apartment and tries to piece together what Josie might be doing. He and Chris compare notes and try and track down Josie and Toni. They realize that Rayburn was involved in whatever is going on. Rayburn continues to refuse to confess - despite physical threats from Toni and psychological ones from Josie. They realize that without a confession, they have nothing and devise a plan so people at the stationhouse won't miss Rayburn. Sophia visits Nick and was happily surprised when he told her Toni came to visit with news that she knows he did not rape her. Sophia told Nick to hold on because soon they will be together and shows him the replacement miraculous medal she was now wearing. Toni and Josie return to the stationhouse to find their respective mates waiting in worry. Both women make up stories about what they were doing. Sophia stops by Rayburns apartment. Hearing her outside, a tied up and gagged Rayburn kicks over something to make noise. A furious Grant busts into the OR and was forced back outside by Shane, who angrily warns him that he could have endangered Kirkland's life by entering the sterile environment. Grant unleashes his fury and frustration on Vickyn saying she is a bad mother. A furious and tearful Vicky retorts that Grant could not be reached and that she made a decision to operate because at least then they had control because Kirkland was in danger of dying either way. While Shane is re-preparing for surgery, Jake once again gives him a hard time. During the delicate procedure, Shane discovers that the aneurysm has begun to leak and works quickly to repair it. Donna and Steven pray for Kirkland in the chapel - Steven says that even though Ryan and Bridget are in heaven, Kirk would rather be on Earth with his family. Grant also prays for Kirkland - asking how much more he was supposed to pay for his sins - first his brother, his mother, jail and now his son. Shane and John tell a relieved Vicky that the operation was successful. Vicky thanks Shane but he told her Kirk is not out of the woods until he regains consciousness.
