Alison wakes from a nightmare of losing her baby to find that Emily has come directly to Susan's from the hospital to comfort her. Alison tells Emily that she believes (because of Aaron's continued insistence) that Chris pushed her off the fire escape after she told him that he was the father of her baby, therefore intending not only to hurt her, but to hurt the baby as well. Emily asks Alison directly what she actually remembers about the fall, but Aaron keeps interrupting with his version. Alison tells Emily that she remembers that Chris asked her to come inside and asked her to trust him. She remembers Chris extending his hand to her, and she thinks that she reached for his hand. After Aaron interrupts again, Emily takes him aside and sends him home. Emily gently tells Alison that she must be completely certain about what happened. Alison lashes out at Emily and Susan for caring more for Chris than for her, then she demands that they leave her alone.

Chris and Tom Hughes arrive at Kim and Bob's house from Chicago after posting bail. Tom learns from a telephone call that Chris is facing two charges in Cook County, assault and involuntary manslaughter. When Chris wants to go see Alison, Tom insists, "You can't go see Alison - not now, not EVER." When the two of them are alone for a few minutes, Chris tells Kim that this is the first time he has thought only of Alison, and that he still cares for Alison. Kim leaves the room to join Bob and Tom, and Chris grabs his coat and goes out the kitchen door. In a few minutes they find that Chris has left, and Kim tells the men that there's no way they could keep Chris from Alison because he cares for her. Chris arrives at the door of Susan's house and Alison tries to close the door on him. Chris finally tells Alison that he reached out to her because he wanted to keep her and the baby safe, "because, Alison - because I love you." Alison does not believe him, and tells him that he is lying and that she does not want to see him. Susan forces Chris to leave, with Chris still protesting that he loves Alison, and with Alison in tears.

Aaron walks into the metro and finds Lucy, who is there looking for Craig. Aaron at last tells Lucy that Alison lost the baby and that Chris was the father of the baby, not Aaron. He goes on to tell her about the abortion clinic and that he believes that Chris pushed Alison. Lucy questions Aaron about why he kept the truth from her, and he tells Lucy that Alison asked him to keep the truth from everyone. Lucy makes him face the truth: he was so caught up in Alison's drama that he forgot everything and everyone else.

Holden takes Luke and Natalie home after finding that Lily had taken them to Rose's to meet with Lois, the medium. Luke tells Holden that Lois was only pretending to be Rose because she did not call him Luciano, the way Rose always did. Inside the house, Lily catches Lois in the same mistake and accuses her of being a fake. Lois angrily puts on her coat to leave, insisting that Lucy had forced all this on her, but Holden bursts in and grabs Lois' arm to force her to leave. Lois starts, then accuses, "You slept with her! You slept with Rose!" Appalled that Holden slept with his sister-in-law, Lois leaves the house, and Holden takes Lily home with him, in spite of the fact that Lily see this as further evidence that Lois is in communication with Rose. In a few minutes, Lily returns to Rose's house on the pretext of having left her purse and immediately calls Lois on her mobile, begging her to come back. Lois asks Lily not to call her again, but then gasps and tells Lily that "I have this feeling that she is very, very close to you right now." Lily opens the door and goes out into the fog, following a mysterious figure shrouded in red.

Katie interrupts Simon and Mike on the verge of a fight, then takes Mike aside to tell them that, although she will always love Mike, she must honor her wedding vows and go with Simon. She gives the grief-stricken Mike a watch engraved, "With all my love, Katie," and tells him goodbye. Mike leaves with a determined look on his face, and Katie cries. Simon comes in with a bag that he has packed for Katie and tells her that they must leave immediately. When Katie, horrified, says that she must see Mike one more time, Simon convinces her that they must leave right away to ensure Mike's safety. Mike goes directly to Margo at the police station to tell her what is happening. Margo pulls up the file on Simon's murder of Bartleby Shears and issues a warrant for Simon's arrest, in order to keep Simon from taking Katie away. Mike and Margo burst into Katie's door to find the house empty and Katie's engagement ring lying on the table. Mike sees the ring and reacts, "The only reason Katie would leave this is to say goodbye...Where the hell did he take her?"

At Rose's Roller Palace, Holden exposes Lois, the medium, as a fake. Lois tries to leave, but her way is barred by Jack, who escorts her directly to the police station. Lily sadly tells Holden, "You took something away from me today - and I've already lost so much." When Lily and Holden return to Rose's house, Lily describes the terrible pain that she is feeling since Rose's death. Holden talks to Lucinda, who suggests that Dusty might be able to help Lily. Dusty comes over to Holden and Lily's house at Holden's request. Holden asks Dusty to talk to Lily to help her through this rough time. Dusty protests, but Holden finally tells Dusty that he is desperate for help with Lily. Finally Dusty agrees and goes to see Lily at Rose's house, but Lily angrily asks him to leave.

Mike finds Katie in the abandoned railroad car where she and Simon have been hiding. Katie shows him the body of the man who warned Simon and her, and Mike continues to urge Katie to leave with him. When Simon returns, Mike confronts Simon and forces him to admit that Katie's life will be in danger if she stays with him. Katie tells both men, "I'm still Simon's wife, so as long as he is alive I am going to stay with him." Mike starts to leave, but Katie asks him to let her and Simon leave on a supply boat of his that is going to Costa Rica. When Katie takes Mike aside and tells him that she will always love him, but Simon is the one who needs her, Simon overhears the conversation. When Mike leaves, Simon takes him aside asks Mike to help him with a plan that will keep Katie safe, but "the downside is that she will hate both of us." When Simon returns after making plans with Mike, he finds Katie crying. Simon tells her that he has been selfish in asking her to come with him, but again she promises never to leave him. Mike returns after making arrangements for Katie and Simon to leave on his boat. Simon walks out, telling Katie, "You're the most glorious person I've ever known." Katie starts to tell Mike goodbye, but he stops her, "You might want to hold off on that." Outside, Simon says, "Goodbye, my love," and disappears around the corner of the railroad car. Katie frantically looks for Simon, but Mike tells her that he and Simon planned for her boat papers to be bogus to prevent her from following Simon.

At metro, when Molly asks Paul if he will keep Craig's illegal adoption of Cabot a secret, Paul instead promises to protect Molly and rushes out of metro. Next Carly comes in to ask Molly for help in protecting Rosanna by not letting Rosanna find out the truth about Cabot's adoption. Molly answers, "If the cops find out about Cabot's adoption, it won't be from me." Carly leaves, realizing that Molly must have told someone else about the adoption. Back at Fairwinds, Craig and Rosanna are enjoying an idyllic time with Cabot, picturing him as a teenager. Carly arrives at Fairwinds and finds an opportunity to warn Craig that Molly might have told someone. Craig makes an excuse to leave, goes directly to Metro, and demands that Molly tell him whom she told. Molly retorts, "Life's tough. It's every baby for himself." Meanwhile, Annabel Fettle, ready to confess
to the Canadian Mounties, asks for the name of "that backstabber" who turned her in.

Paul calls the Canadian authorities who tell him that they have Annabel Fettle in custody. He then anonymously tells them that Ms. Fettle brokered an illegal adoption for Craig Montgomery of Oakdale, Illinois. He then falls asleep and dreams that Rosanna comes to him crying that the authorities are trying to take Cabot from her. He awakes asking, "What have I done?" Molly arrives at Paul's door asking if he has told anyone about Cabot's adoption. Paul answers that he is going to bring someone to justice. When Molly worries that everyone will find out that Paul turned Craig in, Paul explains that he identified himself as Ms. Fettle's ex-boyfriend and that Molly cannot be linked to the accusation.

Jack's telephone rings. The Canadian authorities ask him to check out Craig Montgomery, and tell him that they are on their way to Oakdale. Carly is still with Rosanna when Jack comes in, and Carly pretends that Jack is visiting Cabot with her. When Rosanna goes to get Cabot, Jack tells Carly that he is there to question Craig. Carly admits to Jack that Craig did cut some corners on the adoption, but she begs Jack to protect Rosanna from the truth. However, Jack explains that the Canadian police are coming to Oakdale to investigate for themselves, so Carly knows that no one can prevent the truth coming out. Craig comes home and Jack tells him that he must come to the police station, since Annabel Fettle has been arrested and the Canadian police are on their way. Craig begs Carly and Jack not to tell Rosanna, so they try to cover up Craig and Jack's departure the best they can. Rosanna immediately looks at Carly, saying, "My husband just lied to me." When she asks Carly if it is something serious, Carly nods sorrowfully.

Soon after Jack and Craig arrive at the station, Annabel Fettle bursts in, confronting Craig about the adoption. Unfortunately, Rosanna comes in the door just in time to hear Annabel say, "You and your wife had better kiss that baby goodbye." Rosanna looks at Craig and gasps, "What have you done?

Holden and Lucinda argue about Dusty's involvement with helping Lily get out of her funk. He worries Dusty might get too close to his wife in the process. Holden admits he hates Rose because she died and took his wife with her. He leaves to go check on how Dusty is coming along with Lily.

Sarah asks Jessica if Bonnie got her letter. Jess lies and tells Sarah that Bonnie enjoyed her letter. Ben stops by and asks Sarah to find Curtis. While she is gone, Ben encourages Jess to tell Sarah the truth. Jessica won't break Sarah's heart and forces Ben to keep quiet.

Dusty tries to get Lily to grieve for Rose and move on, but she doesn't want to listen to his plan. She lashes out at him, "Rose was my sister. To you she was nothing but another notch on your belt!" He wants to use the money from Rose's life insurance policy as seed money for some sort of foundation. He says, "If we're gonna spend time missing her, let's make it count." Lily is skeptical at first, but later comes around to his idea. When Holden arrives, Lily sees through the plan. Her defenses immediately resume, and she tells both of them to get out. Holden waits outside while Dusty does damage control. She heads home, leaving him alone in the house. Outside, she scolds Holden for trying to manipulate her feelings.

Rosanna find Craig at the station. Annabelle is nearby and promises to get Ro up to speed on all the sordid details of Cabot's adoption. Craig tries to blame everything on Annabelle, but she defends herself, "You laid down a truckload of cash for that baby. No way did you think the adoption was legal!" Rosanna can't believe what's happening. She asks Craig how much he paid for the baby, but he can't come up with a figure. Rosanna knows in her heart the baby is not hers any longer. She weeps as she thrashes Craig, "I asked you! I begged you! I made you promise me that everything was in order. You named him Cabot Montgomery! He was ours! We've lost him and it's because of you!" All Craig can muster is a weak "I didn't know." Rosanna doesn't buy his lie and shucks his hand from her shoulder when he touches her. She spits, "I have no love left for you." She storms out of the station as Craig shouts after her. Jack stops Craig from pursuing his wife because a Canadian police office is ready to interrogate him.

Margo meets up with Mike. She pleads with him to let them know Simon's location. Mike tells her Katie won't be going with Simon because only his travel papers are certified. Katie's are fake.

Katie runs after Simon, but is stopped in her tracks by a locked shipyard fence. She screams for her husband, and he pops out of the shadows. He tells her this will be their final good-bye. She tries to climb the fence, but Simon coaxes her back down to the ground. Katie frenetically starts to come undone. She can't bear the thought of losing Simon again so soon after she found him. She pleads, "What about what I think! What about what I want! If you could love me like that, how could you leave me like this?" They kiss each other for the last time, and he walks away to the boat. Katie screams after him, saying she will hate him forever for leaving her this way. As she weeps, Mike appears in the background.

Craig tries to bribe the officer, but the investigator says the baby must be returned to Canada immediately.

Holden asks Dusty to keep trying with Lily, but Dusty says he's on his own from now on.

Rosanna bursts into Fairwinds. Carly is holding Cabot. She tells Carly to stay put while she runs into the other room. While Ro is gone, Jack calls Carly and also tells her to stick around, and to not give Rosanna her baby. He says he'll be over in a jiffy. Rosanna returns with an overnight bag packed. She asks Carly for Cabot, but she says Jack told her not to give her the baby. Ro weeps tears of desperation and begs Carly for help. Carly looks with pity upon her sister and says, "I can't."
