Might the next season of Dancing With the Stars have another soap star on its dance card? It's possible if fans have their way. There is a growing movement to have ABC sign Colleen Zenk to the reality series.
PROGRAMMING NOTE:
Colleen Zenk appeared as a guest on Soap Central Live on Friday, December 17 at 600pm ET/300pm PT. In the interview, she talks about her time on As the World Turns, what's she's been up to since the show ended, and the campaign to land her on Dancing With the Stars.

A grassroots campaign to land Colleen Zenk (ex-Barbara Ryan) on ABC's Dancing With the Stars appears to not only have taken off -- but to be getting some results.

Last month, at the daytime diva's urging, fans created a Facebook group to petition ABC to use Zenk in the reality dancing series' 12th season. The group quickly filled up and now has in excess of 4,500 members.

On December 8, Zenk thanked fans with a message on Twitter -- and an update on whether or not their efforts have had any affect.

"DWTS over 4500 now!! You guys are awesome! Contact being made... Love you," Zenk posted.

Outside the confines of Twitter's 140-character limit, Zenk told TVGuide Canada that a Dancing With the Stars rep contacted her agent. Though there has been contact, it's unclear if Zenk will be chosen.

"Let's see if they will take a former CBS soap star," Zenk explained.

There have been several former soap stars to appear on Dancing With the Stars, including All My Children's Susan Lucci (Erica Kane), Cameron Mathison (Ryan Lavery), and Aiden Turner (Aidan Devane), General Hospital's Kelly Monaco (Sam McCall), and Days of our Lives' Lisa Rinna (ex-Billie Reed). Rinna is the only soap vet who didn't appear on an ABC soap, although she did co-host SOAPnet's Soap Talk. SOAPnet, like ABC, is owned by the Walt Disney Company.
