Mark Consuelos to star in planned ABC comedy

Mark Consuelos and Kelly Ripa are finalizing a deal that could bring Consuelos back to ABC. The couple is backing a new comedy series that could appear on the network. Consuelos and Ripa met and fell in love while working on All My Children.

All My Children alum Mark Consuelos (Mateo Santos) has yet another primetime project lined up. The actor, who has a recurring role on the spooky FX series American Horror Story: Asylum.

Deadline is reporting that ABC is in the process of finalizing a deal that would have Consuelos headlining a new comedy series. The half-hour comedy "centers on a blue-collar handyman from Queens (Consuelos) who enters the moneyed world of the Upper West Side, where he and his son become part of a non-traditional family unit."

Consuelos and wife Kelly Ripa (ex-Hayley Vaughan) would serve as executive producers on the series.
