January 2008 Mario Van Peebles tapped as "New Beginning" for AMC's Erica Kane All My Children has cast 51-year-old actor Mario Van Peebles as Erica Kane's latest love victim, Senatorial hopeful Samuel Woods. Van Peebles debuts at the end of January.

January 2008 Christopher ends three-soap run as Skye Robin Christopher has made her final appearance as Skye Chandler Quartermaine. GH was the final stop on a 20-year odyssey that saw the actress appear on three different ABC soaps. Christopher also appeared on Another World.

February 2008 Ian Buchanan back to B&B Emmy winner Ian Buchanan will reprise the role of James Warwick on The Bold and the Beautiful later this month. This will mark the actor's first appearance on the CBS soap since 2002. The actor has also appeared on General Hospital, Port Charles and All My Children.

February 2008 Jeff Branson to spring free from AMC Jeff Branson (Jonathan Lavery) will exit All My Children in the next few weeks. The actor has seen decreasing on-screen time in recent months. A network spokesperson denies that the actor's departure will also bring about the exit of another AMC favorite.

February 2008 Emmy pre-screening nominations announced The pre-nominations for this year's Daytime Emmys have now been announced. From this list will come this year's winners. In a rule change, shows may now have up to three nominees in any given category.

March 2008 Ricky Paull Goldin joins AMC cast One week after actor Ricky Paull Goldin announced to fans that he would be leaving Guiding Light comes word that the actor has signed a deal to appear as Jake Martin on ABC's All My Children. Jake hasn't been seen in Pine Valley in nearly five years. Goldin received Lead Actor Emmy nominations in 2003 and 2007.

March 2008 Cady McClain set to return to AMC Cady McClain (Dixie Martin) will return to All My Children this spring. While fans of the actress will no doubt be jumping for joy at the news, there are a few associated buts that could temper any celebration. McClain's return to Pine Valley is only on a short-term basis - and Dixie is still dead.

April 2008 Greg Nelson's Pine Valley homecoming Laurence Lau (Greg Nelson) is the latest "legacy character" return to All My Children. The actor, who was part of a wildly popular 1980s on-screen pairing with Kim Delaney (Jenny Gardner), returns for a handful of episodes next month.

April 2008 Childers out, Colby recast Whispers that AMC was planning to recast Colby Chandler have proven right. Actress Ambyr Childers has announced that she will exit the show. She joined the cast in 2006. A new Colby has already been cast.

May 2008 B&B's deVry makes stunning, dramatic exit William deVry (Storm Logan) has exited his role on The Bold and the Beautiful. The actor's controversial exit is not his first such exit from daytime television. deVry joined B&B in October 2006. He previously appeared on All My Children and Port Charles.

May 2008 Sydney Penny exits All My Children The only remaining member of the once vibrant Santos family will exit All My Children this month. Sydney Penny (Julia Santos), who first joined the show in 1993 and returned just three years ago, has been let go. The actress earned a Daytime Emmy nomination in 1995. The role of Julia will not be recast.

May 2008 Leven Rambin announces AMC exit All My Children will lose another young talent this spring. Emmy-nominated actress Leven Rambin (Lily Montgomery and Ava Benton) has announced that she has filmed her final AMC scenes. Rambin joined the cast of the ABC soap in 2004.

June 2008 Hughes ditches Y&R for "big" storyline on GH Finola Hughes is joining the cast of The Young and the Res--- oh, no she isn't. After having agreed to appear in a four-episode story arc on CBS's The Young and the Restless, Hughes has graciously bowed out at the request of ABC executives. Y&R is reportedly fuming, though there is no word of any legal action by the show.

June 2008 Ehlers to join AMC, though ABC doesn't want you to know it All My Children's latest casting coup comes at the expense of struggling CBS soap Guiding Light… again. Long-time GL veteran Beth Ehlers (Harley Cooper) exits the show later this month. An official announcement on her addition to the AMC cast is expected at any time.

June 2008 Newcomer Miller out as show struggled to find a place for Richie Though unconfirmed by the network, soapcentral.com has learned that relative All My Children newcomer Billy J Miller (Richie Novak) will be exiting the show this summer. The exit is being attributed to storyline concerns.

June 2008 Emmy winner Eden Riegel launches online series Emmy winner Eden Riegel has teamed up with her husband and friends to put together a new online web series. The series, called Imaginary Bitches, takes a look at those inner voices that are inside every one of us telling us things that we may or may not want to hear. More than a million people have already tuned in to see Riegel's new project.

June 2008 ABC finally confirms Beth Ehlers has joined AMC soapcentral.com first reported last month that Beth Ehlers had joined the cast of All My Children. ABC initially denied the reports, waiting until Emmy night to confirm that the Guiding Light star had come aboard. The network still has not revealed what character she will be playing when she makes her AMC debut.

That's when actor John James reprises his role as crazed Rick Dicker. Since leaving ATWT, James has appeared in a much saner role on All My Children.

June 2008 Irizarry ends 18-month "short term" Y&R gig A year-and-half into his "short-term" role on The Young and the Restless, Vincent Irizarry (David Chow) is exiting the top-rated CBS soap. Irizarry has appeared on Guiding Light and All My Children prior to his Y&R stint. A final airdate has not yet been announced.

July 2008 Rumors have Cady McClain taking on role of GL's Harley She's played a good girl from West Virginia on All My Children and tackled the role of a devilish soap opera vixen on As the World Turns. Now, Emmy winner Cady McClain is rumored to be in the running for the role of Guiding Light's Harley. The show is not going on the record with a comment in either direction, saying only that there are no plans to recast Harley at the present time.

July 2008 An update on Mary Fickett, AMC's original Ruth Martin Mary Fickett (Ruth Martin) hasn't appeared on All My Children since 2000, but that hasn't stopped fans from repeatedly asking what happened to the actress. Fickett, a Daytime Emmy winner 35 years ago, is one of AMC's original cast members. Now, the 80-year-old former actress had granted an interview that should help give her fans some answers.

July 2008 AMC aborts future plans for Colin Egglesfield Maybe there wasn't any new story or maybe it was just too hard to keep around a character whose very existence was medically impossible. Whatever the reason, All My Children has opted to take Colin Egglesfield (Joshua Madden) off contract. The actor took over the role in September 2005.

August 2008 David Hayward will once again be making Pine Valley house calls Be careful around the punch bowl, All My Children fans. An All My Children spokesperson has confirmed that Emmy-nominated soap vet Vincent Irizarry will reprise the role of David Hayward later this year. The news comes only a short time after Irizarry was let go by The Young and the Restless. Prior to his eight-year run on AMC, Irizarry appeared as twins on Guiding Light.

August 2008 ABC confirms DaCosta's exit, rules out a Cassandra recast YaYa DaCosta will exit All My Children this month, ending speculation about the future of Cassandra Foster. Some fans had speculated that the character would be killed off. A show spokesperson, who previously offered no comment, now offers some insight into what will happen to Cassandra. In related news, Mario Van Peebles is also on his way out.

August 2008 Eva LaRue announces engagement Eva LaRue (ex-Maria Santos) has made a big announcement: she's getting married. The former All My Children star had been married to her former co-star, John Callahan (ex-Edmund Grey). Callahan and LaRue have a daughter together. A wedding date for LaRue and her new beau has not been set.

August 2008 Alicia Minshew's future with AMC now in doubt It seems unthinkable, but Alicia Minshew (Kendall Hart), an actress who has been on AMC's front burner for nearly four years, could soon be leaving All My Children. Though Minshew is still very much a part of the cast at this time, insiders say that the sticking point right now is salary. Minshew took over the role of Kendall in 2002.
